Loughborough College and Loughborough University cheerleaders

Our student cheerleading squad put on an incredible performance earlier this week, raising money for staff member Gilly Entwistle in her brave fight against cancer.

With the support of Loughborough University’s multiple award winning cheer team, the event was filled with impressive stunts, flips, and moves that wowed the audience of staff and students.

Audience members paid £2 to attend the display, and with a rolling total of nearly £100, donations are still being counted.

Sixth Form Lecturer Lydia Greenwood, who also coaches the squad, shared her pride in the cheerleading team, and the support of the College community: “The dedication and passion our cheerleaders put into this performance was truly inspiring. They have been rehearsing their routines for weeks, and knowing it was for an important cause really encouraged us to put on a fantastic showcase.

“We really wanted to do something special for Gilly, and the response from the College and the support from the University has been amazing.”

Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, the event raised a significant amount, which will now go directly towards Gilly’s treatments and therapies.
