Staff and students stand in front of a Christmas tree

Staff and students from across the College Group gathered on our Brooksby, Loughborough, Melton, and Stephenson campuses earlier this month to welcome in the festive season with the annual Christmas tree light switch on celebration.

For IGNITE students, a heartwarming celebration in Melton officially marked the start of the season as the Christmas lights illuminated the campus, followed by taking part in the Melton Victorian Christmas Market with a showstopping dance performance.

A seasonal event at Loughborough College officially marked the start of the season by switching on the lights with Level 3 Art and Design student Katie, who was announced as the winner of the highly anticipated Christmas card competition (see below).

Following a surprise visit from Father Christmas, children from the Radmoor Nursery stopped by for a seasonal singalong, including crowd favourite Jingle Bells. The event was a fantastic opportunity to gather the College community together and welcome the season in style.

The following day, the festivities arrived at Stephenson College in Coalville, where staff and students gathered together to celebrate the season with hot chocolates, candy canes, and the announcement that Level 2 Hairdressing student Raye was the winner of the card competition. Her design will now be sent out digitally to partners and shareholders on behalf of campus Principal, Jonny Watkin.

Finally, crowds of Brooksby students gathered at the Brooksby site to ring in the Christmas season, celebrating with a festive food and craft fair, tractor rides, and an appearance from Rudolph…the sheep!

Speaking at Brooksby College ceremony, CEO Corrie Harris shared: “We have had a fantastic term. With so many achievements and milestones reached it certainly is a year of celebration. I am looking forward to what else our community can achieve in the next year.”

The festivities have continued at Loughborough College Group throughout the month, with on-site food bank collections, Christmas appeals for the Falcon Centre, Rainbows Hospice, and the Y Advice and Support Centre, and a high-stakes staff office decoration competition!
