College Prepares for the Charnwood Sports Awards

Anticipation is building across the borough as the 15th annual Charnwood Sports Awards approaches this evening (Monday 1st December). The event, which celebrates outstanding sporting achievements, community sport, health and wellbeing initiatives, and the dedication of local volunteers, promises once again to shine a spotlight on the people and organisations that make Charnwood a thriving sporting community.

For Loughborough College, the evening will be especially meaningful. As proud sponsors of the awards, the College continues its longstanding commitment to supporting excellence in sport and championing the positive impact physical activity has on individuals and communities.

Loughborough College Students Set for the Spotlight

This year, several exceptional Loughborough College students have been nominated, reflecting the College’s strength in nurturing talent and fostering sporting ambition.

Junior Sportsperson of the Year Award

Two rising stars from the College’s sporting programmes are among the finalists:

• Ashton Adcock

• Nelly Las

Both have shown impressive dedication and potential, earning their places as nominees in one of the event’s most competitive categories.

Team of the Year Award

• Loughborough College Women’s Rugby Academy

The Women’s Rugby Academy has enjoyed a remarkable year, and their nomination recognises the team’s commitment to excellence, development, and collective success.

Senior Sportsperson of the Year Award

Two senior athletes from Loughborough College have also been shortlisted:

• Emily Newnham

• Lilli Ives Campion

Their nominations highlight their high performance, leadership, and the dedication they bring to their respective sporting disciplines.

Danny Lee, Curriculum Manager for Sport at Loughborough College, shared his thoughts ahead of the event: “We’re incredibly proud to once again support the Charnwood Sports Awards. They represent everything we believe in—celebrating hard work, dedication, and the positive impact sport has on our community. Seeing so many of our learners nominated is fantastic, and it’s a testament to their commitment as well as the supportive environment created here at the College. We’re looking forward to an inspiring evening and celebrating all of the nominees’ achievements.”
