College Produced Films Complete Barcelona Film Festival Hat-Trick
Monday 23rd February 2026

Two short films written by and starring staff members from Loughborough College have scooped two awards at the 2026 North Film Festival in Barcelona, making it the third year running that the film series has taken home the title.
The Wheel Gone Kid trilogy, co-written and produced by Electrical Installation Supervising Technician Keith Large, won Best Web Series at the festival. Including two instalments filmed at Loughborough College, the series also features staff members Joanne Wells, Umair Syed, and Gary Dearman in acting roles.
Reflecting on the film series victory, Keith shared: “To complete a hat-trick was fitting as football manager Neil Warnock appeared in one of the episodes filmed at Loughborough College! It was great to win, and showcase the talent of our staff at the same time. Who knew we had so many actors working at the College?”
The comedy series stars real-life mother and son duo Rita and Reece Jagpal-Mohan who also saw success at the festival as eleven-year-old Reece won the prestigious Best Actor in a Short Film award.
Keith added: “We’re so proud of Reece as he faced tough competition from much older and experienced actors from around the world.”
The series, which has also previously won awards at festivals in Hollywood and New York, is now set to be promoted at this year’s prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
