Degree Level Students Host Q&A with MP About Life in the Public Eye
Thursday 8th October 2026

Undergraduate students at Loughborough College had the opportunity to have their voices heard as they took part in a fascinating question and answer session with local MP, Jeevun Sandher.
Students on the BA (Hons) Public Services Management and BA (Hons) Business and Management courses spoke to Jeevun in a unique conversation about life in the public eye and the complexities that come with serving such a diverse community.
Answering a students’ questions about developing confidence in public speaking, Jeevun offered some words of advice, sharing: “You have to fake it until you make it, and keep trying. You might not get it right first time, but as Vincent van Gogh said, ‘Success is sometimes the outcome of a whole string of failures’. Even someone like Barack Obama will have practiced and rehearsed his speeches for months in advance, because you have to keep trying.”
Both the Business and Management and Public Services Management degrees at Loughborough College stand out for their comprehensive approach to learning, and offering unique, hands-on opportunities that empower students for future success.
Lecturer in Higher Education Business and Management at Loughborough College, Harriet Burt, also shared her reflections on the event, stating: “This was a great opportunity for students across two different courses to hear from someone in the public eye whose career takes them across a variety of responsibilities and service users.
“Jeevun offered some great advice around the challenges associated with communicating with a diverse population, and the students were engaged and keen to learn from his experiences.”
