Girls Rugby Teams Showcase Excellent Performances at National Competition

Loughborough College Group’s Girls’ Rugby programme has once again demonstrated its strength on the national stage with a fantastic run of performances at the Howden Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens festival.
Competing in the prestigious Girls U18 ACE competition, the Loughborough College-based team were drawn in a challenging group that included Hartpury University and Hartpury College and Exeter College. The girls competed with intensity and teamwork throughout the tournament, coming up against well-established rugby academies to show their quality in both attack and defence.
Also representing Loughborough College Group was the Brooksby College-based girls squad who competed in the festival’s Under 18 Limitless category. With tough competition from up and down the country, the squad put on a fantastic performance including a 29-14 win over Dartford Grammar School, taking them to second place in their group.
The Rosslyn Park Sevens, which features over a thousand teams across multiple age groups, remains the largest schools rugby tournament in the world, offering players a unique opportunity to perform on a national stage.
Loughborough College Group was also represented by the U18 Boys squad who took part in the highly competitive U18s and Limitless Vase competitions, showcasing excellent performances and gaining important exposure against strong opposition.
Director of Sport for Loughborough College Group, Matt O’Dowd shared his pride in the performances of both the boys and girls pathways: “The tournament marked another positive step forward for our rugby pathway athletes. With a talented squad and continued commitment to development, the future looks bright for all of our students, and we’re excited to see them perform on the national stage again soon.”
