Three talented Health and Social Care students from Loughborough College will have the chance to showcase their abilities on the national stage having successfully progressed to the qualifier stage of the prestigious WorldSkills UK Competition 2026.

Lilly Cowley, Jack Hulme, and Teagen Johnson, who are all studying for their Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, were selected from around 600 registrations nationwide, an incredible achievement that highlights their dedication, skill, and commitment to excellence.

The WorldSkills UK Competition is one of the country’s largest skills and careers competitions, designed to celebrate technical excellence and help young people develop the high-level skills employers are looking for. Competitors take part in a series of industry-relevant challenges that test their practical knowledge, professionalism, and ability to perform under pressure across a range of sectors.

The qualifier stage is the first competitive round of the national competition and sees learners from colleges, universities, and training providers across the UK compete for a place in the national finals.

By reaching this stage, Jack, Teagen, and Lilly have already been recognised among some of the top emerging talent in their field.

The three will now move forward to the next stage of the competition, where they will have the opportunity to put their abilities to the test against some of the country’s most talented students and apprentices.

Curriculum Head for Caring Services at Loughborough College, Sharon Geary-Neal expressed her pride in the students, sharing: “We are incredibly proud of Jack, Teagen, and Lilly for reaching the qualifier stage of the WorldSkills Competition.

“To be selected from around 600 registrations is a fantastic achievement and reflects the passion, dedication and talent they have shown throughout their studies. We can’t wait to support them through the next stages of the competition and wish them every success.”
