Loughborough College Celebrates Another Podium Finish at Student Racing League National Finals
Friday 1st May 2026

Loughborough College has once again triumphed in sim racing after an outstanding performance at the Student Racing League (SRL) National Finals held at the Williams F1 Gaming Lounge.
Learner Joseph Redfern secured an impressive second-place overall finish, meaning Loughborough College has now finished in the top two at every SRL National Finals since the competition began in 2022.
The College also celebrated a record-breaking achievement this season, with five learners from the Loughborough College Sim Racing Academy qualifying for finals day, making it the highest number the academy has ever produced and the biggest team from one college in the UK.
The success reflects the continued growth of the College’s Esports and Sim racing provision, led by Head Coach Robbie Stapleford. A former SRL champion and runner-up himself in 2022 and 2023, Robbie has now transitioned into coaching the next generation of competitors.
Danny Lee, Sport & Esports Curriculum Head at Loughborough College, praised the achievements of both the learners and coaching staff. He shared: “We are incredibly proud to see our learners continue to perform at such a high level on the national stage.
“Joseph’s result was outstanding, but just as importantly, having five learners qualify for the finals demonstrates the strength and depth of talent within our Sim Racing Academy. It’s fantastic to see the programme continue to grow and develop year after year.”
Head Coach Robbie Stapleford reflected on the team’s achievements and the progress made throughout the season, stating: “This season has been incredibly rewarding. Having competed in these finals myself, I know the level of pressure and competition the students face, so to see Joseph perform so strongly and secure second place was brilliant. I’m really proud of the whole team and the commitment they’ve shown throughout the year.”
The latest success continues to strengthen Loughborough College’s reputation as a leading destination for esports and sim racing education, with students consistently competing and succeeding at the highest level nationally.
