Loughborough College Group Athletes Deliver Extraordinary Performances at Commonwealth Games

Students and alumni from across Loughborough College Group’s campuses have delivered outstanding performances at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, earning an outstanding 36 medals across the ten days of competition.

Across athletics and para-athletics, swimming and para-swimming, boxing, and team sports, a total of 19 athletes brought home nine gold, 23 silver, and 4 bronze medals. If competing as a nation, Loughborough College Group would sit in the top ten in the final medal table, above countries including Wales, Malaysia, and South Africa.

Highlights from the competition include current BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching student Thomas Young who broke a Games record and earnt gold in men’s 100m T38 category, and Level 3 Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) swimming alumnus, Oliver Morgan who won a staggering five silver medals across the 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke, 4x100m freestyle, and 4x100m medley relays.

Paralympic gold medallist and former student of both Brooksby College and Loughborough College, Sophie Hahn also earnt further success, clinching gold and silver in women’s 100m T38 and women’s 200m T38, respectively. 

Reflecting on the triumph of students and alumni from across the organisation, CEO of Loughborough College Group, Corrie Harris shared: “It is wonderful to see the continued success of our current and former students on the international stage. We are so proud of all our students past and present who represented their nations during the Games and are thrilled to be a part of their journeys.

“These athletes are also a credit to the dedication and hard work of our tutors, teachers, assessors, and support staff. They have continued to champion and support our students throughout their time with us and beyond.”

Across the competition, 39 students and alumni represented nations including England, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, Uganda, and Jamaica. A full list of Loughborough College Group medal winners is available below.
