Loughborough College Students and Alumni Set their Sights on Commonwealth Gold

Loughborough College Group will be represented by more than 30 past and present students at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, kicking off in Glasgow tomorrow. 

A total of 33 elite athletes who have, or are currently studying with the College Group will play key parts in a host of sports and parasports, including netball, athletics, and swimming at the tournament which takes place from Thursday 23rd July until Sunday 2nd August.

The squad stars athletes representing various Commonwealth teams including Paralympic champion Sophie Hahn and Olympic silver medallist Matthew Hudson-Smith for England as well as Ugandan netballer Mary Cholhok and high jumper Regan Corrin for the Isle of Man.

Matt O’Dowd, Director of Elite Sport at Loughborough College Group shared his excitement for all the students and alumni playing their part in the Games: “I am so proud of the stories of every single one of these incredible athletes and we wish them every possible success at the Commonwealth Games.

“This is not just a success for the athletes themselves, but their teachers and coaches at Loughborough College Group who have worked hard to develop elite athletes with the passion and talent to perform on the global stage. 

“I know that they will make themselves, their friends, families, and teachers extremely proud. We are cheering them on from Loughborough!”
