Motorsport Alumnae Abbi and Jess Line Up for New Netflix Documentary: 'F1: The Academy'

Two renowned Motorsport Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) alumnae Abbi Pulling and Jess Edgar continue to make waves for female racing drivers as they are prominently featured in Netflix's latest docuseries, F1: The Academy. 

Released globally earlier this week, the seven-part series offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the 2024 season of the all-female F1 Academy racing series, spotlighting the challenges and triumphs of the drivers as they travel across the world. 

Produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and F1 Academy Managing Director Susie Wolff, the documentary highlights Abbi’s outstanding championship run with Rodin Motorsport, which earnt her a fully funded seat in the GB3 Championship. 

Jess Edgar, also a Loughborough College alumna and Rodin Motorsport driver, made headlines with her first-place finish in Austin during the 2023 season. Speaking during her first F1 Academy season, she attributed her success to the Motorsport DiSE programme at Loughborough College, stating, "I’ve learnt so much on the DiSE course, about what goes in behind the scenes, and all the work I need to put in to be at the top of my game" 

Throughout the series, F1: The Academy highlights both the competitive spirit and dedication of Abbi, Jess, and their fellow drivers, whilst underscoring the importance of empowering female drivers to promote gender diversity in motorsport. The series is now streaming on Netflix.
