Regional Electrical Company Deliver Energising Talks to Loughborough Students

Electrical Installation students at Loughborough College kicked off the new year with an enlightening talk from Technical Engagement Engineer, Matthew O’Dell of Midlands-based Scolmore Group as part of a series of energising talks.
Renowned as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers for electrical accessories, Scolmore Group oversees over ten organisations internationally that produce state-of-the-art products.
Covering topics around power and resistance, Matthew demonstrated exciting innovations from the industry, including the dynamics of handheld fans, how control units work in central heating systems, and the pitfalls to overcome when installing electric showers.
Reflecting on the visit, Loughborough College Supervising Technician Keith Large said: “The chance to hear from Matthew was an important opportunity for Level 3 Electrical Installation students. It was a great chance for them to make connections, learn directly from industry professionals, and get a close up understanding of the products they’ll go on to use in their future careers.”
Agreeing with Keith, Level 3 Electrical Installation student Roan Woolley commented: “I really liked how Matthew was interactive with our group and engaged with us in an inspiring way.
“He made us realise the endless opportunities that are out there for qualified electricians. He was enthusiastic, clear, supportive, and made the session fun.”
Matthew will return to Loughborough College Group numerous times this academic year, talking to several groups of Electrical Installation students and apprentices on topics that are part of their course syllabus.
