For Leicester City Women’s Football Club player Asmita Ale, choosing to study for a Degree at Loughborough College offered her the flexibility and support necessary for her career and development.

“It’s the perfect fit for my lifestyle, enabling me to grow academically whilst still focusing on my footballing career,” Shared Asmita, who made history as the first player from Nepalese heritage to play in the Women’s Super League (WSL).

Blended learning at Loughborough College provides the perfect combination of online/distance learning and contact day attendance.

Now in her second year of her BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science degree, Asmita credits the blended learning approach at the College for the ability to balance education with sporting commitments. She continued: “Blended learning makes Loughborough College an excellent choice for athletes. It provides great flexibility, and the predominantly online format means it’s much easier to balance my responsibilities.”

Asmita has praised the support of her lecturers and tutors for helping her widen her horizons and expanding her skillset. As a professional sportswoman and student, it’s this support that has been particularly invaluable for Asmita’s continued growth. “The lecturers are so incredibly supportive and approachable. They understand the demands of my career and offer me flexibility and understanding.”

Reflecting on her time with Loughborough College so far, Asmita has been pleased with her continued growth, new skills, and confidence. She said: “I would definitely recommend Loughborough College and blending learning. Not only has this degree provided me with valuable skills for a life beyond sport, but it’s given me a productive outlet off the pitch, and a sense of identity beyond being an althlete.”

With the rest of this year’s WSL still to come, Asmita is excited to see how her degree can support her future. “As I progress through my course, I’ll gain more clarity about my options and life after football,” Asmita shared.

“This experience will open up new opportunities, and help me make informed decisions about my future on and off the pitch.”
