College Group Staff Celebrate Success at Good for Me Good for FE Awards
Tuesday 9th December 2025

Following an inspiring year of fundraising and community outreach, we are pleased to be celebrating three members of staff, who were shortlisted at the prestigious Good for Me Good for FE Awards, held at the House of Lords last week to recognise exceptional community impact across the further education sector.
Our finalists, Accounting Lecturer James Shields; Curriculum Manager for Sport Danny Lee; and Contracts and Governance Officer Lisa Whait were recognised for their dedication to volunteering, fundraising, and community engagement.
In a proud moment for the College Group, James Shields was announced as the winner of the Individual Fundraiser of the Year Award, highlighting his ongoing commitment to raising money for local causes and his ability to inspire both colleagues and students through his ongoing fundraising efforts.
James, who has completed a series of ambitious fundraisers over the past year, including raising more than £10,000 for a colleague battling cancer said he began his fundraising journey after being inspired by fellow nominee Danny Lee, who ran a 24-hour sportathon for local charity, Samuel’s Promise, two years ago.
James said: “I was honoured to receive this award, but it is Danny who really showed me what was possible with passion and determination. Seeing the impact he had on the College and local community has inspired me to do something meaningful too.”
Loughborough College Group CEO, Corrie Harris praised all three shortlisted staff members for their achievements and dedication, sharing: “We are incredibly proud of James, Danny, and Lisa for representing everything that makes Loughborough College Group so special.
“Their commitment embodies the community spirit we value so highly. James’s award is so well deserved, and all three should be so proud of their extraordinary contributions.”
The Good for Me Good for FE initiative was launched in 2021, co-founded by London South East Colleges, Loughborough College, and East Coast Colleges as a way to encourage staff and students in further education institutions to take part in community action. Now in its third year, these awards highlight the national impact of staff and students across the FE sector who give their time, energy, and talent to benefit others.
