Loughborough College Group Awarded Savoy Grant to Transform Hospitality and Catering Facilities

Loughborough College Group is celebrating having received a grant of more than £50,000 from the Savoy Educational Trust, which will support the transformation of the restaurant kitchen at the organisation’s Loughborough College site.

The funding – which will benefit students across the Catering and Hospitality department – will enable the College to renovate the current kitchen with cutting edge, industry-standard facilities, creating an enhanced learning environment for the next generation of hospitality professionals.

As part of the College’s successful Radmoor Restaurant, the newly improved kitchen will support more than 115 hospitality students across Levels 1–3 each year, alongside a wider range of learners and community participants, including junior chefs and adult learners.

Curriculum Manager for Hospitality and Travel at Loughborough College Group, Darren Creed expressed his enthusiasm for the renovations, sharing: “We are thrilled to receive this grant from the Savoy Educational Trust, which will take our restaurant kitchen to the next level and will support our commitment to sustainability and community engagement.”

The project will also support the College’s Farm to Fork programme, delivered in partnership with Brooksby College, the Group’s specialist agricultural and farming campus. The project aims to help students on Hospitality and Farming courses to develop their understanding of sustainable food production, seasonality, food miles and local sourcing, while connecting practical culinary skills with wider issues around sustainability and the food system.

The Savoy Educational Trust is an independent grant-giving charitable trust focused on advancing education, training, and qualifications for the benefit of the UK hospitality industry.

This latest investment will build on the success of the Radmoor Restaurant, which has supported students to achieve national titles, including National Young Chef of the Year. Earlier this year, the restaurant was also recognised by the Craft Guild of Chefs with both the Educational Partnership Award and Chairman’s Award.
