Loughborough College Restaurant and Lecturer Honoured at Prestigious Industry Conference
Friday 1st May 2026

National culinary organisation, the Craft Guild of Chefs, has recognised the outstanding contribution of Loughborough College’s Radmoor Restaurant and one of its leading lecturers at its latest Annual General Meeting (AGM), celebrating excellence across the UK hospitality and catering sector.
At the Guild’s annual Honours and Awards presentation, which showcases achievements from across the industry, Radmoor Restaurant, based at the College Group’s Loughborough campus, was awarded both the Educational Partnership Award and the Chairman’s Award - highlighting the college’s ongoing commitment to developing future culinary talent and supporting the wider industry.
The Chairman’s Award is presented to individuals or organisations that have delivered “extraordinary service” to the Guild, with the restaurant earning this recognition for hosting and supporting the Guild’s annual Education and Training Summit earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the Educational Partnership Award celebrates collaboration and excellence in training and education within hospitality.
Adding to the College’s success, Darren Creed, Curriculum Head for Hospitality and Travel, was recognised with the Local Hero Award, highlighting his significant contribution to the Guild and his continued work to champion, support, and encourage chefs and students at a regional level. The Local Hero accolade is awarded to members who work tirelessly to promote the Guild and its values within their communities and professional networks.
Speaking after the event, Darren expressed his pride, sharing: “To come away from this year’s AGM with recognitions for both the restaurant and myself, I am blown away. I am so proud of the Radmoor Restaurant team, these awards reflect a collective effort to raise standards and inspire the next generation of chefs.”
The success builds on Loughborough College’s strong track record within the Guild, where both staff and students have consistently been recognised for their talent, innovation and commitment to excellence in hospitality education.
In 2020, Loughborough College made history as the first educational institution to be awarded Craft Guild accreditation, becoming the first college in the country to meet the Guild’s national standards for culinary education.
Last year, Darren was also awarded the Chef Lecturer of the Year title at the Guild’s annual awards, which recognised his outstanding dedication, knowledge, and experience at the ceremony - known widely as the ‘Oscars of the culinary world’.
