Tuesday 17th June 2025

We are celebrating an outstanding achievement as Darren Creed, Curriculum Manager for Hospitality and Catering, has been named Chef Lecturer of the Year at the 2025 Craft Guild of Chefs Awards.
Often referred to as the "Oscars of the culinary world," the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards are among the most respected accolades in the industry, recognising excellence, innovation, and dedication across the culinary profession. Held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London earlier this week, Darren was one of just a handful of winners, all of whom have shown outstanding impact in the industry.
The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards is one of the most renowned ceremonies in the culinary industry. This year’s judging panel credited Darren’s “lived experience, which has fuelled a unique ability to connect with and support others, making a genuine and lasting impact on countless lives.”
Darren has played a pivotal role in Hospitality and Catering at Loughborough College, where his creative teaching methods and deep industry knowledge have empowered students to develop the skills, confidence, and ambition to succeed in the industry. His influence extends beyond the classroom, with many of his students going on to achieve success within the sector. Recently, he has co-mentored Nestlé Toque d’Or champion, student Tom Brassington, and supported the winners of the prestigious Zest Quest Asia award.
Speaking about the award, Darren said:
“I am blown award to have been named Chef Lecturer of the Year by the Craft Guild of Chefs. It is really an honour to be recognised for doing a job I love. I have some incredible students and inspiring colleagues, and they have all played a part in this award.”
