Blended learning provides the perfect combination of online/distance learning and contact day attendance, which is ideal for those balancing their studies alongside other professional or sporting commitments. This HNC programme enables a multidisciplinary study of sports science at a higher level. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within coaching as well as the sports science principals that underpin athletic performance.

Course Content

Renowned for our high-quality teaching, we ensure your learning includes online lectures, seminars and activities, as well as independent study. Learning will be largely online, with 5-7 contact days per year when you will be required to visit Loughborough College. During these contact days, you will be able to put theory into practice by utilising our sports science laboratories and practical facilities, where you will learn to develop your coaching techniques under the guidance of our expert staff.

Assessments include a range of essays, projects, presentations and reports. This diversity will allow you to experience various modes of academic and professional practice, developing your abilities and refining your skills in preparation for your next steps. We have an excellent support system in place, with tutors working closely with you both remotely and during contact days throughout the duration of your programme. They will support your development and track your academic progress to ensure that you achieve your best.

Entry Requirements

48 UCAS points. GCSE Maths & English or equivalent required at grade 4 or above.

Progression Opportunities

Following the successful completion of this HNC Sport course, students will be able to progress on to either of our L5 Sport Degree courses at Year 2 point of entry. Once graduated, employment routes include sports development or coaching; both in professional and community sport, including elite level football clubs and academies.
