As an LSA Apprentice, you’ll support children’s academic, emotional, social, and pastoral needs, including SEN students. Responsibilities include assisting with schoolwork, behaviour, therapy, and social activities. You’ll help with planning, wraparound care, and supervision while gaining real world experience for a career in education.
As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting children academically, socially, and emotionally.
This apprenticeship offers experience working closely with Special Educational Needs (SEN) children. It provides opportunities to develop skills that may lead to a future role within the pastoral team, making a meaningful impact on students’ academic and emotional well-being.
Your role will involve:
- Motivating pupils to reach their full potential
- Supporting and encouraging pupils in their schoolwork
- Helping children understand instructions and develop communication skills
- Ensuring pupils feel confident and comfortable in their abilities
- Providing pastoral care, supporting emotional and social development
- Assisting vulnerable children, including those with physical or hygiene needs
- Helping children who need extra support to complete tasks
- Supporting children during social activities, outings, sports events, and therapy sessions
- Assisting in the preparation and participation in activities
- Supervising and engaging children in group activities
- Helping plan learning activities, prepare materials, maintain records, and complete administrative tasks
- Supporting classroom behaviour management to create a positive learning environment
- Following individual care plans tailored to children's needs
- Supervising children during playtime, lunchtime, and outdoor activities
- Assisting with wraparound care, including before and after-school clubs
- Clearing away materials and equipment after lessons
Additional training will be provided to support this role in the areas of:
- Food Hygiene Level 2
- Paediatric First Aid
- Supporting children with Sensory Circuits
