Progression Opportunities After Completing Your Course

So, you have finished your course; what next? Well, there are 5 main choices:

  1. Further Education
  2. Higher Education
  3. Apprenticeship
  4. Employment
  5. Gap Year

1. Further Education

Many learners will stay on at Loughborough College, see: https://www.loucoll.ac.uk/courses/subject-areas for a list of our courses.

Some learners leave us to go to other colleges, see : https://ps16.co.uk/ for a list of other further education courses in Leicestershire.

 

2. Higher Education

Many learners who have passed a full Level 3 course leave us to go to other universities or colleges, see: https://www.ucas.com/ for a list of higher education courses in the UK.

Some learners who have passed a full Level 3 course, will stay on at Loughborough College, see: https://www.loucoll.ac.uk/undergraduate-study for a list of our courses.

 

3. Apprenticeship

Many learners go onto an apprenticeship, see: https://www.findapprenticeship.service.gov.uk/apprenticeshipsearch for a details of those currently being advertised from Level 2 (GCSE) up to Level 7 (master’s).

Some learners gain an apprenticeship which involves studying at Loughborough College, contact apprenticeships@loucoll.ac.uk

 

4. Employment

Many learners who are aged 18 or over go into employment, see: https://www.gov.uk/find-a-job or any one of a lot of other job boards such as Indeed, Monster, Google Jobs etc.

 

5. Gap Year

Some learners choose to take a gap year, often before going on to Higher Education, see: https://www.ucas.com/alternatives/gap-year/gap-years-ideas-and-things-think-about so that you plan it fully and do something that will look great on your CV.
