We're celebrating International Women's Day 2023

Posted: 8th March 2023 - 4:49pm

Happy International Women’s Day2023. Today we proudly celebrate women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements and call for gender equality.

This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity which aims to get conversations going worldwide. Equity refers to fairness and justice and is a must-have in every society. We all start from different places, so inclusion and belonging need equitable action.

A huge thank you to our sports lecturer and hockey superstar Steph Tirrell, who spoke about what #Embraceequity means to her, what sport has done to ensure equality, and, more importantly, how they have and are trying to improve the equity side of things. To show our support for #IWD2023, some of our staff have been wearing purple, and we held an event this afternoon where staff and students met us for a chat, a fun International Women’s Day quiz, and some sweet treats.

Big shout out and well done to our students Tom Bird and Amelia Oleksiej who, scored a phenomenal 10/10 on our quiz!
