CourseContent

The course consists of practical work and theory based units, which include:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Multi-Skills Development in Sport
  • YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing
  • Level 2 Award for Emergency First Aid for Mental Health
  • Child Protection in Sport and Physical Activity
  • Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Health & Safety at Work
  • Social Marketing
  • Supporting Children and Young People’s Wellbeing
  • Effective Communication in the Workplace
  • Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace
  • Accessibility and Inclusion in Digital Health

The course entails two significant work placement that you will complete each semester with local schools/coaching companies and local gyms/fitness providers.

The majority of the course is continually assessed, with the final assessment being based on portfolio work and practical observations. There is an exam for the anatomy & physiology module on the YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing.

Requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths, and a Level 3 BTEC Diploma (or equivalent) at pass level
  • Mature students will be considered based on their previous qualifications and/or relevant work experience
