This industry recognised qualification offers an insight into the diverse career paths within the sports and physical activity industry. The course has been designed with local employers and CIMPSA to ensure you are equipped with the fundamental skills and competencies necessary to embark on a fulfilling career in Sports Coaching, Fitness and Physical Wellbeing.
Through this programme, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to present yourself in a professional and personable manner. This includes developing a deep understanding of coaching & fitness principals that are needed to be successful in this field.
There are a range of trips and teambuilding activities included throughout
this course and you will also have the opportunity to take part in enrichment
sporting activities.
The course consists of practical work and theory based units, which
include:
- Level 3 Coaching
- YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing
- Level 2 Award for Emergency First Aid for Mental Health
- TQUK Level 1 Award in Safeguarding in a Learning Environment
- Emergency First Aid at Work
- Health & Safety at Work
- Social Marketing
- Supporting Children and Young People’s Wellbeing
- Effective Communication in the Workplace
- Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace
- Accessibility and Inclusion in Digital Health
The course entails two significant work placement that you
will complete each semester with local schools/coaching companies and local
gyms/fitness providers.
The majority of the course is continually assessed, with the final assessment
being based on portfolio work and practical observations. There is an exam for
the anatomy & physiology module on the YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Gym
Instructing.
- Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths, and a Level
3 BTEC Diploma (or equivalent) at pass level
- Mature students will be considered based on their previous qualifications
and/or relevant work experience
