College Sweeps Nominations at Charnwood Sports Awards 2024

Loughborough College proudly celebrated the achievements of its students, staff, and teams at the 2024 Charnwood Sports Awards.

The College stood out as a key contributor to the borough's vibrant sports community, not only sponsoring the Junior Sports Person of the Year award but also seeing multiple nominees across various categories.

Among the standout nominations was Loughborough College's Cricket Academy. The AoC Sport National champions were finalists for Team of the Year, while the College’s wider Sports Academy programme was shortlisted in the Club of the Year category, showcasing its dedication to health and wellness initiatives.

Staff were recognised for their athletic excellence, with Elite Sport Coordinator Martyn Rooney making the shortlist in the Outstanding Contribution to Sport, Physical Activity, and Health category for his work coaching Team GB’s athletics team.

Students and alumni also waved the flag for Loughborough College at the ceremony, as Paralympic gold medallist Will Ellard was shortlisted for Senior Sports Person of the Year, and motorsport alumnus Degan Fairclough and current student athlete Regan Corrin reaching the finals for the Junior title.

Curriculum Manager for Sport and Esport at Loughborough College, Danny Lee shared: “Seeing all the amazing College representation at the Charnwood Sports Awards exemplifies our commitment to both individual and collective achievements. It’s great to share the stories of our students and staff whose dedication and passion embody the College’s vision for sports and education.”
