Loughborough College Cricket Academy has capped off an exceptional season by winning the T20 AoC Sport national championship, solidifying their reputation as one of the leading Further Education (FE) Cricket Academies in the UK.

This triumph comes on the heels of their victory in the AoC Sport indoor cricket championship in April, marking a historic double victory for the Academy.

The Academy’s journey to the T20 championship began with an undefeated run in the Midlands T20 group stage. The team showcased their prowess by defeating Barton Peveril Sixth Form College from Eastleigh in a challenging semi-final, before overpowering Middlesbrough College in the final, winning by nine wickets while chasing a target of 116.

Curriculum Manager for Sport at Loughborough College, Danny Lee, reflected on this remarkable achievement, stating, “Securing both the indoor and T20 championships in the same season is a testament to the dedication and talent of our players. It is an historic moment for our Cricket Academy, and we couldn’t be prouder of the team’s hard work and commitment.”

Head Coach Rahim Ali also expressed his pride, adding, “I want to thank all the players for their incredible efforts this season. Winning the national championship in both formats is a phenomenal achievement and underscores the strength and depth of our squad.”

The double championship cements the Cricket Academy’s standing as one of the most exciting cricketing institutions in the FE sector. With a perfect record in the T20 group stage and dominant performances in the finals, the team has set a new benchmark in college cricket.
