The Loughborough College Foundation Learning Department has a unique opportunity for an inspiring, dynamic and committed individual to teach maths.  Our Foundation Learning courses are specifically aimed at students who are entering education at Entry Level or Level one. 

They are designed to provide learners with the skills they need to move on to an apprenticeship, supported or skilled employment, further education, or independent living. 

You will teach Functional Skills and resit GCSE maths to a wide range of learners in the Department on both level 1 programmes and entry level programmes alongside their vocational programme.  

You will be part of the thriving cross college maths team who engage in regional and national development programmes to ensure innovation in teaching and learning of post-16 mathematics.

We are looking for someone who will deliver inspiring teaching and learning and monitor progress in lessons. 

You will ensure all learners are on track to achieve their target grades through implementing appropriate assessments and providing high quality feedback.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and able to demonstrate the ability to motivate and engage learners through the use of varied high-quality teaching and learning strategies.

You will be required to teach functional skills and GCSE maths to our learners and it is expected that you will have previous experience of teaching maths.  

A relevant degree or equivalent is essential, and applicants must already possess a teaching qualification or be working towards one. You must have strong interpersonal and organisational skills.

Important Information

EU citizens arriving into the UK after the 1st January 2021 will need apply for a Tier 2 visa to gain right to work in the UK.

To be eligible to apply for a Tier 2 visa, the role advertised will need to have an educational standard of at least A levels and the salary for the role has to be a minimum of £25,600 unless in a shortage area i.e. STEM or if you have a PhD relating to the role.
