College Manager to Judge UK’s Top Hospitality Competition

Darren Creed, Curriculum Manager for Tourism and Hospitality, has been chosen to join the judging panel for the UK’s prestigious Salon Culinaire 2023.

Participating in the Salon Culinaire offers chefs of all levels, ages and abilities the chance to be recognised for their talents and many previous competitors have gone on to rank amongst the UK's most celebrated and highly recognised chefs.

The competition occurs 20-22 March 2023, and there are a range of different categories from Knife Skills to Sugar Craft, Plating and Display, Pastry and, of course, the gruelling Live Theatre team and individual competitions which test the chefs’ ability to perform under pressure.

Steve Munkley, Salon Culinaire Director, has unveiled exciting new live competitions with themes which reflect the challenges faced in today’s hospitality sector. T

Contestants in the Craft Guild of Chefs Team of the Year will be required to create bowl food fit for a banquet, plus those challenging in the Stadia Team Event, which sees football club chefs go head-to-head is back.

“I’m delighted to have been invited to judge parts of the Salon Culinaire 2023”, said Darren.

“The event attracts a ‘Who’s Who’ of the British culinary world and to be working along side some of the best chefs, culinary artists and food experts is both a thrill and an honour.”
