Dylann Patel | A Levels

My name is Dylann Patel and I studied A-level Biology, A-level Psychology, and a L3 Applied Diploma of Criminology.

I chose to study at Loughborough College as I recognised that it was the most prestigious college near to me.

I have been given the support of ensuring that I never lose momentum, but that I am able to take breaks often and I keep on going. My teachers in and out of my course have supported my mental health to make sure that I am doing okay.

A-level Biology – The course was intense, but the encouragement from the lecturers allowed for me to consistently push through the work over the 2 years.

A-level Psychology – The course was enjoyable, understanding how and why people behave made me appreciate my behaviour and understand those around me and it helped me navigate the world a little bit better. With Autism, that has made life is a tad-bit easier.

L3 Applied Diploma of Criminology – I have had a wonderful experience with Criminology, just as with Psychology it has made me understand more why people do and do not do things.

My tutors across the courses were exceptional, they encouraged me to keep on pushing despite the pain of having to revise but yet ensure that I take a break, so I don’t burn out (although I never did). They have helped me to seek new ventures and opportunities and for that I am grateful.

I mainly spent my time on 3rd floor. The facility there was updated in my final year, and it most certainly helped. The study cube assisted me when I needed a time to delve down and focus on work.

I recommend coming to Loughborough College, the environment, the lecturers, and the new signing with the NFL makes Loughborough College a place that is amazing for those who are thinking about or have decided to join.

I plan to go on and study Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham and then to study a master’s degree which will then lead me to complete a PhD in Psychology. Aside from that, I aim to participate in the Nottingham Youth Advisory Board for the NHS in conjunction with the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland’s Youth Advisory Board and I have plans to work for Childline.

Keep it positive – this means that things may not all be good now, but things will get better.
Keep it productive – do what you love, happiness over everything.
