Rosie Felstead | Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Business

I enjoyed studying Business at GCSEs and knew I wanted to continue studying it in my next steps, whether through A-levels or an equivalent. So, when I came to the open day at Loughborough College, I saw that there was the option to study Business full time. I was intrigued when I looked into the course further, and when a tutor talked me through the programme, it was everything that I wanted to study next.

One of my favourite parts about the course is the industry placement opportunities it incorporates that has given me the chance to do a 315-hour Industry Placement at Macildowie Recruitment. As a result, I've gained valuable skills in a working environment. I can learn the content in college and then go into a work placement and apply the knowledge and skills that Loughborough College has taught me. I enjoy my course; I like the units I am studying and think they are delivered through interactive and engaging lessons.

Many opportunities have been available for me through my time at Loughborough College

The tutors on my course are extremely helpful with any queries I have. They are very knowledgeable about their subject and have provided me with clear guidance about the opportunities available after Loughborough College.

The college has been supportive in helping me prepare for my next steps by guiding me on how to complete my university applications and showing me what apprenticeships are currently available and how I can apply for them. Alongside this support, the college also has lots of services for any support people need, so I always know that if I have any concerns, I can go to the college, and they will do their best to help me.

The classrooms at Loughborough College are all very spacious and bright, so it is easy to focus and learn during lessons. There are also a lot of areas around campus available to study in, like the library and study areas which you can go to if you need a quiet space to get work done.

Many opportunities have been available for me through my time at Loughborough College, such as becoming a Student Ambassador and partaking in an industry placement and college trips. Being a Student Ambassador has allowed me to develop many skills for my future and has allowed me to share my experience of studying at Loughborough College. Partaking in an industry placement has allowed me to gain skills that will be useful for a lifetime and have helped me prepare for what will happen after college. Finally, trips are also available for students on the course that links to units we are studying.

I would recommend people come to Loughborough College to study this course because I have had a great experience over the last two years. The course has opened so many opportunities for me and has been enjoyable throughout. It is an excellent mix for people considering A-levels or an apprenticeship. Through this course, you get the chance to learn the content and then go and complete work placements and gain experience there.

I've applied to university and am awaiting responses from Exeter, Lincoln, Bath, York and Worcester. Alongside applying for universities, I will also be looking into degree-level apprenticeships to apply to.
