Community Team 1909
What is Team 1909?
Team 1909 shines a light on the positive impact our staff make both in and out of the workplace, it gives us a chance to showcase and bring together all of the wonderful community-focused activities that our staff are already doing under one supportive umbrella.
Team 1909 was initially setup by a group of staff looking to stay active and healthy and take on the Isle of Wight Ultra challenge, which they successfully completed in 2023 raising raising over £2300 for local charities.
Run Digital 2025
One of our committed curriculum managers is taking on a series of challenging long-distance running events in 2025 to raise awareness and support for the “Run Digital” initiative, aimed at bridging the digital divide that students face.
By collecting IT equipment donations from local businesses, we can help ensure every student, regardless of their background, has the technological tools they need to excel.
Here are the four events:
- January 2025: 6-hour Rasselbock Winter Run (aiming for 50k)
- May 2025: Grand Union Canal 145-mile Ultra (London to Birmingham)
- July 2025: Gower Ultra 100k in South Wales
- October 2025: Leicester Half Marathon
