This course is designed for learners looking to start a career in the Electrical Installation industry.
If you enjoy practical work and have an eye for detail, electrical installation could be a great career for you. Electricians install and maintain the equipment needed for the safe and efficient use of electricity, including fitting and repairing electrical circuits and wiring.
Learners study in state of the art workshops that reflect what they'd find in the industry, allowing them to be prepared for entering the work once qualified. All lecturers are experts within their sectors, bringing a wealth of skills and knowledge from industry into the classroom.
Modules include:
Health and safety
Electrical installation theory and technology
Electrical installation methods
Procedures and requirements
Electrical installation craft skills
Electrical science and principles.
Students will also have the opportunity to utilise the IET On-Site Guide, and also be introduced to how regulations (including BS 7671) affect electrical installation. The qualification also covers standard circuits as described in the On-Site Guide.
Grade 3 in English Language and Grade 4 or above in Maths, Science
and at least one other GCSE at grade 4.
Upon successful completion of the course, students can progress on to further education, such as Electrical Installation Level 3, or a related course in the Construction industry. You may also wish to undertake an apprenticeship or go straight in to employment.
