Brooksby College is the perfect place to hone your land management skills as you'll be able to combine theory with hands-on experience in a wide range of environments on our 850-acre estate.

Brooksby has a wide range of habitats and land uses, which are ideally suited for environmental study. This course provides hands-on insight into the worlds of estate management, ecology, environmental science and more, coupling the theoretical knowledge with practical experience in the field, taking full advantage of our 850 acre estate.

Introduction to Working in Land-based Industries

Introduction to Plant and Soil Science

Countryside Work Placement

Habitat Maintenance

Countryside Estate Maintenance

Land Based Machinery Operations

Introduction to Game Management

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English OR Level 1 Land-based (or similar) and Entry 3 Functional Skills in English

Progression

Successful completion of this course will allow students to progress onto our Level 3 Countryside and Environmental Management programme Management. Alternatively, you may wish to undertake a relevant apprenticehsip, or go straight into employment within the Land-based industry. Career paths inlcude: Estate Worker, Ground worker and Farm Labourer.
