If you have a strong interest in animals and would like to pursue a career within the field of Animal Management and Animal Science, there is no better place to study than Brooksby! This course will enable you to work with a range of animals and develop your practical skills. Units of study in the programme will also provide you with underpinning knowledge of animal health, behaviour, food and care requirements.

Brooksby College is home to an extensive Animal Care Centre housing a wide rang of animals on-site here. From exotics to domestics, insects to farm and hoofed animals, students benefit from a wealth of hands-on experience, allowing for a truly well-rounded educational experience.

Work experience (150 hours)

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including English OR Level 1 Animal Care with Merit grade and suitable reference

Progression

Students who complete Level 2 Animal Care with a grade of Merit or above may progress onto a higher level college course or an Apprenticeship.

Potential roles within the industry include: animal welfare assistant, veterinary nurse, dog trainer, dog groomer, kennel/cattery manager, educator, zoo keeper, animal rehabilitation assistant, animal welfare assistant, animal nutritionist, conservation officer and more.
