Accounting Students Lace Up for UNICEF Fundraiser

Posted: 25th April 2024 - 10:43am

Year 12 Accounting students from Loughborough College are gearing up for a forthcoming 10k sponsored walk, aimed at raising funds for international children’s charity, UNICEF.

Scheduled to take place at the end of April, learners are lacing up their walking shoes in aid of the worldwide humanitarian charity, working to support vulnerable children across the globe.

Accounting Lecturer, James Shields shared, “All our students taking part in this sponsored walk are determined to complete the 10k for this important cause. Not many of them have experience of distance walking, so their dedication is admirable.”

As the countdown to race day begins, students have been motivated not only in their training, but also their fundraising potential. James continued, “The students are hoping to raise as much as they can for UNICEF, who work in nearly 200 countries for the healthy and safe future of children.

“The learners are hoping our community will come together to support their efforts. Even a donation of just £1 will go a great way in helping children who are less fortunate to fulfil their potential.”

This fundraising effort also contributes to the College’s wider Good for Me, Good for FE campaign, a nationwide initiative working to encourage students and staff in further education to take part in fundraising and community outreach efforts.
