Following a nail-biting semi-final round, Loughborough College Hospitality and Catering students have been revealed as finalists of the esteemed UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year competition.

Having dazzled the judges in the Semi Finals at the prestigious Gordon Ramsay Academy, learners Jess, Libby, and Eddie’s journey to the finals has been nothing short of spectacular, creating innovative dishes presented with impeccable service.

Under the guidance of their mentor, Chef Lecturer Darren Creed, the team have honed their skills, refined their techniques, and will now go on to the grand final, to be held in June this year. As with previous stages, the team will have to prepare and serve their dishes in a live restaurant situation to guests from across the industry.

In a statement to Craft Guild of Chefs, the competition’s Chair of Judges, Vicky Enderson commented, “The standard of the competition is progressing year on year…a testament to the hard work of the students and their mentors.”

Inspired by the winning team’s grand prize – a study tour to Paris, the theme of this year’s competition is ‘Escoffier Re-imagined’, paying tribute to the father of French cuisine, Auguste Escoffier.

With an incredible prize at stake, anticipation is simmering amongst the finalists. As they gear up to compete on the grand stage of the UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year finals, Darren reflected on the team’s success so far, sharing, “The entire College community have been rallying behind Jess, Libby, and Eddie, and their journey so far reflects their passion, perseverance, and teamwork. We couldn’t be prouder of them.”
