A Level Chemistry student, Bea Andrews, has been recognised as a future leader in the world of science, having been presented with a top award and residential visit to Cambridge University by the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge.

Having tackled the famously demanding puzzle, Bea was one of just a handful of students who succeeded in earning the Roentgenium Award, given to the top 0.5% of over 10,000 entrants. Alongside this accolade, she was invited to an exclusive residential camp at St Catharine’s College at Cambridge University.

This experience offered Bea the chance to engage with peers and further develop her skills through practical experiments and exercises in the department.

Reflecting on her experience, Bea shared: “Visiting Cambridge University was an amazing experience! The challenge was a great chance to think about my next steps after my A Levels, and gave me the opportunity to look at science in a new way.

“The trip to St Catharine’s was incredible, and I really enjoyed meeting other students from across the country.”

The competition, which offers students the chance to take on thought-provoking chemistry problems that go beyond the standard curriculum, encourages learners to use creative and critical thinking and problem-solving skills to gain a deeper understanding of the subject.
