College Community Celebrates the Festive Season with Light Switch on Event
Friday 6th December 2024

Staff and students from across College gathered on campus this week to welcome in the festive season with the annual Christmas tree light switch on celebration.
Principal and CEO Corrie Harris officially marked the start of the season by switching on the lights with Level 3 Art and Design student Arthur, who was announced as the winner of the highly anticipated Christmas card competition (see to the right).
Following a surprise visit from Father Christmas, children from the Radmoor Nursery stopped by for a seasonal singalong, including crowd favourite Jingle Bells. The event was a fantastic opportunity to gather the College community together and welcome the season in style.
Speaking at the ceremony, Corrie shared: “We have had a fantastic term. With so many achievements and milestones reached it certainly is a year of celebration. I am looking forward to what else Loughborough can achieve in the next year.”
The crowds kept warm throughout the event, as the team from the Radmoor Restaurant served festive hot chocolates, complete in edible, sustainable Stroodles cups.
The festivities have continued throughout the week. Earlier this week, Caring Services staff and students held an Elf Day tombola, raising money for Alzheimer's UK, as well as the annual Christmas Jumper Day, a festive food bank collection, and on-site Christmas fair.
