College Footballer Pens Professional Contract with Derby County
Tuesday 1st August 2023

BTEC Sport Performance and Excellence learner, Dajaune Brown has kicked off his footballing career by signing his first professional contract with the historic Derby County Football Club.
Dajaune, a striker, has signed a three-year contract with the club, following his time with the team Academy, where he began a scholarship last summer.
Lecturer Jonathan Butterfield shared his excitement, commenting, “Dajaune has had a fantastic season for Derby County’s Under-18 squad, and his dedication and focus on his game is clear. He has continued to show his commitment to both his studies and career and is a great example of what can be achieved through the sporting courses on offer at Loughborough College.”
Having scored nine for DCFC’s U-18 team during the 22/23 season in as many appearances, the teenager was included in the first-team squad for the Rams’ Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round tie against West Ham United, and travelled to Spain earlier this year for pre-season training with the first team, ahead of the 23/24 season.
Dajaune joins the ranks of former BTEC sports learners including Ben Chilwell, Harvey Barnes, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as athletes who have progressed on to professional football careers in recent years.
