College Group Athletes Scoop Seven Gold Medals as Commonwealth Games Enters Seventh Day

Students and alumni from across the organisation have put Loughborough College Group on the map as they have earnt a staggering 27 medals over the course of the competition so far.
With seven gold medal finishes under their belts, Loughborough College Group would be currently sat at fifth place overall, if competing as a nation.
During the tournament, alumna para-athlete Sophie Hahn – who studied at both Loughborough College and Brooksby College – set a season best in the women’s 100m T38, earning gold for England and pipping her fellow alumna, Wales’s Olivia Breen to the post, who earnt silver.
Elsewhere in athletics, current degree level student Thomas Young celebrated a birthday to remember as he brought home a record-breaking gold medal, triumphing in the men’s 100m T38 with a Commonwealth-best time of 11.1 seconds. Alumnus Zac Shaw also triumphed, powering to gold in an emotional victory in the men's 100m T12.
In the pool, alumni Luke Greenbank, Oliver Morgan, Jacob Whittle, Freya Colbert, and Abbie Wood have each earnt multiple medals in a range of races for Team England. Representing Scotland, alumna Angharad Evans also took home three podium places, winning gold, silver, and bronze in the women’s 200m breaststroke, women’s 4x100m medley relay, and mixed 4x100m medley relay respectively.
Other Loughborough College Group medal winners so far include Lucy Robinson (Gold for women’s wheelchair 3x3 basketball), Jamell Anderson (Gold in men’s 3x3 basketball) and Scotland’s Kyle Jiminez (bronze for men’s 3x3 basketball).
