Students and staff across the College Group paid tribute to fallen service men and women across the world in a series of touching Remembrance Day ceremonies, held at our Brooksby, Loughborough, and Stephenson College campuses.

At Loughborough College, the service took place in The Quad, beginning with an introduction and recital of ‘What is Remembrance?’ by Group CEO, Corrie Harris. Brooksby College hosted a ceremony in Brooksby Church, led by Principal James Fryer and Reverend David Harknett. Stephenson College paid tribute with recitals from Principal Jonny Watkin and Vice Principal for Learner Services and Quality, Lucy Howes.

Speaking at the ceremony in Loughborough, Corrie Harris said: “Remembrance honours those who serve to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life. We unite across faiths, cultures, and backgrounds to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth.”

Public Services students also took to the stage for moving readings of A Soldiers Poem, In Flanders’ Field, and Ode to Remembrance, with Finlay Wright, Harry Barton, Zac Simpson-Aimer, and Ivy Williams paying tribute at Brooksby and Loughborough campuses respectively.

Speaking at Stephenson College, Principal Jonny Watkin reflected: “We have gathered today to take a moment to remember those brave men and women who not only served our country in the past, but also those who still do to protect our freedom and peace.”

Representatives from the Armed Forces, emergency services, the College Group, and Governors also laid wreaths with written messages of remembrance.
