College heroes bring home eight medals from Tokyo Olympics

Seven Loughborough College alumni brought home an eight-medal haul after making their mark at the Tokyo Olympics.

Former students brought home six silver medals, including teenager Keely Hodgkinson who produced an amazing performance in the women’s 800m; Lauren Williams in the women’s Taekwondo and Bradly Sinden in the men’s Taekwondo.

There were also outstanding team performances involving former learners including Luke Greenbank in the pool; Reece Prescod and Richard Kilty in the 4 x 100m relay team and Daryll Neita in the women’s 4 x 100m relay.

Jo Maher, Principal & CEO of Loughborough College, said: “It gives the entire college community such a sense of pride to see our students and alumni competing on the international stage. We are delighted and proud of our Olympic and Paralympic athletes who represented Team GB in Tokyo.   

“Loughborough is synonymous with sporting excellence and it is such a privilege for me to lead a College that is continuing those traditions of setting high aspirations and ambitions.  

“For us, competition inspires students to be the best they can be and our staff work hard to put in place the necessary support to enable our students to thrive.”  

A total of 28 Loughborough College alumni competed for Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics. Our full list of medal winners:

  • Luke Greenbank (silver in 4 x 100m swimming medley and bronze in 200m backstroke)
  • Keely Hodgkinson (silver in women’s 800m)
  • Reece Prescod (silver in men’s 4 x 100m relay)
  • Richard Kilty (silver in men’s 4 x 100m relay)
  • Lauren Williams (silver in women’s Taekwondo)
  • Bradly Sinden (silver in men’s Taekwondo)
