Two talented young rugby players from Loughborough College have been called up to the England under 18s squad for the 2022 season.
Lucy Weaver and Freya Greensmith, both studying on the College’s Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme, were chosen after shining in a series of trials across the country last year.
They will join the 34-person squad for international matches throughout the calendar year. Lucy plays for Loughborough Lightning whilst Freya plays for Yorkshire.
Brad Jones, who leads Loughborough College’s DiSE Rugby Union programme, said: “Congratulations to Lucy and Freya for this deserved call up.
“They work extremely hard and are incredibly dedicated to their sport and I have no doubt that they will represent their country with pride and distinction.
“It is such a privilege for us to play a part in the development of talented young people as we prepare them for a life in professional sport through our DiSE programme.”
