College team volunteers to help homeless in Charnwood

Posted: 26th November 2021 - 2:29pm

A team from Loughborough College has donated a day to help a Charnwood charity which provides vital support for homeless families and vulnerable people.

The team of managers volunteered their time to work on a range of tasks, from painting and gardening to cleaning and sorting donations, for Falcon Support Services in Loughborough.

The work was part of the College’s Good for Me, Good for FE campaign which it jointly launched with two other colleges to promote volunteering and donations in the further education sector.

Anne-Marie Francis, Vice Principal at Loughborough College, said: “Colleges already play such a vital role in communities through education and training, but we want to go further and show our support for local causes which make a massive difference in the lives of some of our most vulnerable residents.

“That’s the crux of the campaign and why we wanted to help our friends at Falcon Support Services. They are the unsung heroes of the community yet do so much to transform lives. It was a privilege for us to be able to help in a small way.”

Rachel Hall, Deputy CEO at Falcon Support Services, said: “I absolutely love being involved in hosting these Team Building Volunteer Days for businesses, and in this instance Loughborough College. It's such a great chance for them to feel the community spirit, talk to our service users and get involved in supporting the homeless in our local area. It hopefully provided a real insight into the charity and chance to join the Falcon family.”
