Posted: 22nd June 2023 - 1:29pm

Creative Arts students recently had a chance to showcase their talents at the College’s annual Creative Arts Exhibition.

Learners from A Level courses and students on BTEC Level 2 and 3 courses displayed over 100 pieces of sculpture, fine art, photography, and installation at the end of year exhibition which ran from Monday 12 to Friday 16 June. A public viewing celebrated the launch on Monday evening and family and friends were invited to join learners in the unveiling of their artworks.

Art and Design Curriculum Manager, Gary Stefanetti was on hand to support the exhibition which spanned through the Hub, and into the Art and Design classrooms. Gary said, “Our annual exhibition is always a fantastic opportunity to showcase and celebrate the developing talent and creativity that we have on our courses.

“The students have produced some amazing pieces of art and they have great futures in creative arts ahead.”

The student-led exhibition displayed some outstanding pieces of art in the Hub, including intricate miniature kitchen dioramas, complete with cutting boards and house plants, and a jaw-dropping Jurassic Park inspired dinosaur sculpture, complete with a roaring soundboard.

Continuing through into the Art and Design classrooms and corridors, the walls were adorned with artworks inspired by film and TV. Students have taken modules in Visual Communication, and inspired by the horror genre, produced artworks to add to the showcase.

Emphasis is placed on a mixture of art disciplines throughout the courses and learners have the opportunities to visit exhibitions, go on trips, and hear from guest speakers in order to shape their final pieces.
