Posted: 3rd February 2021 - 12:23pm

Experts at Loughborough College will lift the lid on the benefits of apprenticeships for employers and young people at a special virtual apprenticeship festival.

The College, rated as Outstanding for apprenticeships by Ofsted, is running the week-long, free online event as part of National Apprenticeship Week from 8th -12th February, 2021.

Delegates will get one-to-one consultations with business development and recruitment specialists as well as access to workshops and real-life case studies from existing apprentices and their employers.

The event will showcase apprenticeships as a potential career path for young people and the benefits of harnessing apprenticeships in the workforce for employers.

Paula Allerton, Head of Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement at Loughborough College, said: “Apprenticeships will continue to play a crucial role in helping rebuild the post-Covid local and regional economy. Our festival aims to showcase the massive benefits for both apprentices and employers.

“Our event will provide delegates with case studies, the data and individual consultations to get that message across and to help people decide whether it is right for them.

“It’s completely free and gives people a rare opportunity to hear from existing businesses, apprentices and specialists.”

Delegates will hear from the likes of Mercedes, Leicester City FC and many, many more as well as joining the National Big Assembly, a nationwide interactive event where people can ask questions and have their say on apprenticeships and traineeships.

The virtual festival shapes up like this:

  • Monday, 8th Feb – for employers, focusing on T Levels, placements, levy and professional qualifications.
  • Tuesday, 9th Feb – for employers and potential apprentices, featuring case studies and a live stream from the Big Assembly event.
  • Wednesday, 10th Feb - Workshops about how apprenticeships work and what support is available to help people get into apprenticeships. There will also be a showcase of what apprenticeships look like plus on-demand videos explaining the apprenticeships on offer at Loughborough College.
  • Thursday and Friday, 11th-12th Feb – one-to-one consultations for both employers and apprentices.
