Electrical Installation Learners Get Hands-On Experience with Hispec

Posted: 5th June 2023 - 4:46pm

Learners and apprentices on Electrical Installation courses got an exciting insight into the types of alarms and lighting they could be using in future careers with Kieran Hopkins, Regional Specification Manager from Hispec, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of fire safety and lighting products.

Kieran led a number of interactive sessions with our learners, offering hands-on opportunities to work with Hispec products. Alongside time to talk with Kieran to gain exclusive industry knowledge, students had time to dismantle and reassemble a range of products and learn about the components that comprise the latest cutting-edge industry technology.

Ben Betts, a first year JTL apprentice said, “Kieran kept us engaged and I liked his transparent approach to the different range of products I’ll be using in the workplace.”

Of particular interest to the learners was the gear tray used to retrofit old lighting into new state-of-the-art lighting fittings. This knowledge and experience are vital to the development of learner’s future careers as industry technology continues to evolve.

Level 2 Electrical Installation student Harrison Shakespeare added, “Everything was explained and shared in great detail. We have our theory and installation exam very soon so it was really helpful to have so much information.”

The Electrical Installation courses at Loughborough College work in close partnership with JTL, a leading work-based learning offering apprenticeships in the electrical installation sector. Throughout the academic year, learners have access to specialist workshops and facilities to expand their practical expertise.
