Olympic silver medallist and former Loughborough College student Keely Hodgkinson has been shortlisted in the Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year awards.

The 19-year-old, who studied a Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) at the College, was shortlisted in the Young Sportswoman category after finishing second in the women’s 800m in the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

She also broke Dame Kelly Holmes’ long-standing British record as she raced to silver, whilst also becoming the second-fastest under-20 woman of all time in the 800m. In 2021, she also became the Diamond League champion, and the youngest ever women's 800m European indoor champion as well as the second-youngest British holder of the European Athletics Indoor Championships title.
