Six Loughborough College learners from across Level 2 and 3 Hairdressing and Barbering courses competed last month in the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Regional Arena Heat competition in Stamford College, Lincolnshire.

Contestants were challenged to create amazing, themed haircuts, styles, and up-dos for the chance to move on to the national final in May.

Following a day of tough competition, two College students, Level 3 Barber learner Kamila Bielicka and Level 3 Hairdressing student Kerry Page qualified for the final AHT National Competition, to be held in Blackpool next month.

For all learners involved, the training, preparation, and experience of the competition was a great chance to develop techniques and learn new skills that they can carry on into industry roles.

Hair and Beauty Curriculum Manager, Claire Springthorpe shared “The competition was a fantastic opportunity for our students to stretch and challenge themselves in a fun and creative way. This was such a valuable experience for all the students”.

Well done to all the learners who took part, and good luck to Kamila and Kerry for the final competition next month!
