Health and Social Care learners entered into the prestigious 2023 WorldSkills UK competitions

Posted: 6th April 2023 - 12:49pm

Last month, Caring Services entered five Health and Social Care learners into the 2023 WorldSkills UK national skills competitions. These competitions are designed by Health and Social Care industry experts and support young people to grow personally and professionally while developing their technical and employability skills.

Good luck to learners Bethany Hands, Sam Gallacher, Shannon Herridge, Hannah Batts, and Hemali Jagdish, who have all received their first tasks to complete to potentially get them a space in the national qualifiers.

These competitions allow learners to develop empathy, communication, person-centered care, problem-solving, and moving and handling skills. Sharon Geary, Curriculum Manager said that “learners presented a 10-minute presentation to show off their skills and behaviours before being entered for the first stage of the competition. These are all the skills that employers are looking for in the Caring Services sector; according to Lauren Connolly, Manager, Acorn Close, Prime Life who are one of the leading providers of care homes in the UK”.

Best of luck to our health and social learners.
