Two former Loughborough College students will represent Team GB at the Winter Olympics next month.

Kathryn Thomson and Farrell Treacy, both 26, will fly the flag for Team GB in short track speed skating at the Beijing games which run from 4th February to 20th February 2022.

Both graduated with a BTEC Diploma in Sport in 2017 after five years at the College. Kathryn will compete in her second Olympic Winter Games, in the women’s 500m, 1,000m and 1,500m events.

Farrell will also compete in his second Games in the men’s 1,000m and 1,500m. He is currently studying for a master’s degree in business management and sport at De Montfort University.

Matt O’Dowd, Head of Elite Sport & Development at Loughborough College, said: “We wish Kat and Farrell the very best of luck for the Games. They’ve both hit form at just the right time and we have no doubt that they will do their families, themselves and the country proud in Beijing.

“It is such a privilege for us to have played a part in the development of some of the country’s top sportspeople and we really hope they can come back with medals.”
