Posted: 10th November 2021 - 9:15am

Six Loughborough College students have been called up to England and Ireland’s under 18s football squads for matches in November.

James Clarridge, Ben Nelson, Sammy Braybrooke, George Hall and Kian Pennant were named in Ryan Garry’s England squad for games against the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal, to be played between 11 and 15 November 2021.

It is a first call-up for George. All students are studying on the College’s BTEC Level 3 Diploma apart from Sammy who is doing the Level 3 Extended Diploma.

Meanwhile, Leicester City goalkeeper Arlo Doherty, who is studying a BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sport (Performance and Excellence) at College, has been called up to the Ireland under 19s squad for their EURO qualifiers against Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Bulgaria.

Kay Noble, Deputy Manager in the College’s Elite Sport team, said: “We’re so proud of all of our learners whose hard work, dedication and talent has been recognised at international level. It is such a privilege for us, as a College, to support these fantastic students on their journey. We wish them all the very best of luck for the games.”

The international call ups for Loughborough College students comes just days after student Jordan James, BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence), made his professional senior debut in midfield for Championship side Birmingham City in their 3-0 win over Bristol City on 3rd November.
